1. Introduction

Microscopy Learning Systems, Inc. (hereinafter “MLS”) takes your right to privacy seriously, and wants you to feel comfortable using this web site. This privacy policy deals with personally-identifiable information (referred to as “data” below) that may be collected by this site. This policy does not apply to other entities that are not owned or controlled by MLS, nor does it apply to persons that are not employees or agents of MLS, or that are not under MLS’s control. 2. Collection of data

Registration for an account on this site requires first and last names, a username, a valid e-mail address, and a password. Information obtained during a request for information is not stored on the site, and is used only with your consent to contact. You are not required to provide any other information if you do not want to. As on many web sites, the MLS may also automatically receive general information that is contained in server log files, such as your IP address, and cookie information.

If you are purchasing items through this site, you will be taken to a third-party website (Braintree Payments), which will collect your credit card information. MLS will not receive, and does not have access to your credit card information.

Subject to the other terms of this Privacy Policy, MLS may aggregate (i.e., assemble on a basis that does not enable one to personally identify you) the data that is acquired under or in connection with this site and/or related to ordering our products and services, including, without limitation, data about the products and services requested and purchased by our users. Aggregated data may be used by us to improve our service and for marketing purposes, and may be shared with and used by advertisers and other third parties. We may also use such data to determine what types of policies are best suited for our customers and what types of policies our customers request. If we provide aggregated data to third parties, individually identifiable information will not be included.

3. Use of data Data may be used to customize and improve your user experience on this site. Efforts will be made to prevent your data being made available to third parties unless

(i) provided for otherwise in this Privacy Policy;

(ii) your consent is obtained, such as when you choose to opt-in or opt -out for the sharing of data;

(iii) a service provided on our site requires interaction with a third party, or is provided by a third party, such as an application service provider;

(v) it is found that your use of this site violates any of MLS’s policies, Terms of Use, or other usage guidelines, or if it is deemed reasonably necessary by MLS to protect MLS’s legal rights and/or property; or

(vi) this site is purchased by a third party, in which case that third party will be able to use the data in the same manner as set forth in this Privacy Policy.

In the event you choose to use links displayed on this web site to visit other web sites, you are advised to read the privacy policies published on those sites. Additionally, if you are enrolled in an educational program, and are using this site in conjunction with that program, information from this site regarding the specific programs viewed, images accessed, questions answered, test/assessment scores, etc. may be forwarded to your professor/instructor/teacher and/or your program, depending upon the requirements of your institution/program.

4. Cookies: Like many websites, we use “cookies.” Cookies are small files that we transfer to your hard drive that allow us to recognize you. Cookies are necessary for the proper functioning of the MLS website, including for announcements, tests and other purposes. These cookies are not used for tracking or storing any information unrelated to your use of the MLS website.

5. Minors: We do not sell products or services to children. If you are under 18, you may use this site only with involvement of a parent or guardian.

6. Editing or deleting your account information: You are provided with the ability to edit the information stored for your user account information during registration, by visiting your user account control panel. You can request that your user account be deleted; to do so, please contact the site administrator at support@mlsedu.com. Content or other data that you may have provided, and that is not stored within your user account, may continue to remain in MLS’s data, at MLS’s discretion, even after your user account is deleted. 7. Changes to this privacy policy: Changes may be made to this policy from time to time. You will be notified of substantial changes to this policy either by through the posting of a prominent announcement on the site, and/or by a mail message sent to the e-mail address you have provided, which is stored within your user settings.

8. No Guarantees: While this privacy policy states standards for maintenance of data, and while efforts will be made to meet the said standards, MLS is not in a position to guarantee compliance with these standards. There may be factors beyond MLS’s control that may result in disclosure of data. Consequently, MLS offers no warranties or representations as regards maintenance or non-disclosure of data.
